In the social arena our search for freedom gives rise to the practice of politics. Politics is the process by which we decide how best to organize society, in pursuit of the greater good. Obviously this has varied a lot from one age to another, but in modern times there has been a definite shift toward defining the ‘greater good’ in terms of freedom. In modern times the collective push-back against corrupted power has always been toward systems that organize society around personal and collective freedom. This struggle brought us modern democracy, which is off course not a destination but another step forward. The question is, what comes next?
